BRIDGE, ANYONE?
8 weeks, starting Thursday, January 26th,
Calling all bridge players! Whether you have always wanted to learn, know a little, know enough or are a seasoned and skilled student of the game, you are invited to join us at the Club as we begin a weekly Bridge Club in the Mary Raymond Room. We’ll start by meeting Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:00. Rudimentary instruction will be provided for those new to the game. For those of you who already know how to play, cards, tables and tallies will be provided so that you can jump right in!
There’s been a resurgence of interest in Bridge, and now is the perfect time to learn to play or to find partners who enjoy the game as much as you do. We’re hoping that a number of members representing a variety of skill levels will join us, as the only way to improve is by constantly playing with challenging opponents. (We’re also counting on the mavens to help the novices along). If you already have a group who enjoy playing together, you’re all welcome to attend and we’ll give you a table.
Angel Schade has graciously offered to help the beginners get started. If you would like a primer for review before we gather , she recommends Elementary Bridge Five Card Major Student Text by Shirley Silverman. This little volume costs about $6 and is available from Amazon.com. It provides an excellent introduction to the basics of the game.
Bridge, Anyone is sponsored by the Membership Committee. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Needless to say, coffee and tea will be provided. So, put down your iPhones, turn off your computers and come play with us!
